On November 5 2024, the project team and community members were overjoyed to witness the result of a long and rich journey, as the project leaders handed over the full responsibility for Madi Eco-Village officially to a proud and professional community.

From outside, many tangible and also soft impacts have come out of the 7-years of shared dedicated work.

In short, translated to english, the main impacts perceived by the community members are the following:

The lifestyle of the Bot people has been uplifted from living a jungle life to generating additional income through the homestay model

A renewed sense of the Bot cultural architecture and building design has grown through the unique community hall and the special design of the cottages

Skills development of the people: Females were shy to even face the guests, but now after hosting multiple and also international guests, they have become more confident. This was also supported through various workshops and trainings.

Through practicing the Bote dance as a cultural event and by wearing the traditional clothing, the culture of the Bote people which was nearly lost, has become internationally and nationally recognised. This is an important basis for its preservation.

The community members are grateful to everyone who contributed their hard work and dedication in the course of the project.
